Myrtle was born in Buies Creek, North Carolina March 20th 1925 and was preceded in death by her husband Felton Eugene Davenport and parents Orrin Ellis and Annie Susan Dixon, also one sister, Hazel Dixon and a brother, Millard Dixon.
In 1946, Myrtle gave her heart to the Lord and continued to serve Him faithfully until the time of her death.
Myrtle and her husband and three children came to Wilmington in 1953. God gave them an unexpected blessing when in 1958 they had another child.
She was a devoted Christian, mother and wife and was known for her humbleness. Her many friends and church family loved her and enjoyed her piano playing. She wrote many poems, some of which were published.
Survivors include a son, Felton Eugene Davenport and wife, Janice, a daughter, Jan Yopp and husband Gordon, a son, Buzz Davenport and wife Terri and a daughter Kathy Rublein and husband, George. Ten grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren, three brothers and four sisters. Also one "grand dog", Socks. Pallbearers will be Glenn Davenport, Michael Strandquest, Johann Rublein, Justin Klutz, and Ryan Klutz.
