Rolan, Rolen or Roland was born in 1786. Variations on his name spelling occur throughout records. Chosewell was his paternal grandfather's forename and apparently used in tradition, as no documents with its use have been found. The birth date is from the family Bible artifact, image attached. In 1813, he and Penelope Keel married. U.S. Civil War Soldiers, 1861-1865 index lists him as Rowland Dixon, and one record pre-dating his service in the confederacy describes him as Major. He passed away about 1865, presumably during his service in the confederacy.
