John was born about 1740. The family immigrated in several waves. Mother Mary Miller Dobbin is assumed to have died between 1793 and 1798. Sons James and John probably immigrated in 1797, father John immigrated with sons David, Miller,and Samuel in 1798, and son William not until 1824.
All 6 sons eventually settled in Washington County, New York within miles of each other. All were farmers, James and David practiced other skills also, cooper and tanner.
He passed away about 1800. He was buried in the Christie Graveyard of Washington County, New York.
