In 1851 John Brigham 47 from Wharram Percy has moved to Driffield where he is Auctioneer & Registrar of Births, Marriages & Deaths. He and his second wife, Elizabeth Dobson, have two sons at school and a servant from Skipsea Brough. Elizabeth must have been a skilful and expensive dressmaker: it was rare for wives to continue their personal occupation.[3]
