While this family grouping has been created as one there is the possibility that the profile needs to be separated. Unfortunately records of this time period are notoriously vague. James Dobson (~1645 - ) is either the father of all 14 children with at least 2 mothers or there could be more than one James. All children have been attached to the same father in order to make it easier to keep them together or separate them in various groupings as may be necessary. All 14 children plus the two marriages took place at Prestonkirk, Haddingtonshire which is why this grouping has been made.
The children born in 1680 are obviously from 2 different mothers one having Chrystian Dobsone (<1680 - ) while the other had the twins, William Dobsone (<1680 - ) and James Dobsone (<1680 - ) however as their mothers names are not recorded it is not known who the mother is. The mother of these children could be either Helen Hoge (~1650 - ), Margaret (Bee) Dobson (~1655 - ) or another woman entirely. As James is said to have married Margaret Bee in 1678 it is likely that she is the mother of either Chrystian or the twins.
