Biography

Mary Elizabeth Dobyns, daughter of James Matt Dobyns, was born 21 June 1834 in Hopkins County, Kentucky. [1][2]

In 1850, Mary E. Dobyns, age 17, lived in Hopkins County with father, James M. Dobyns, Precious Dobyns and siblings. Not sure if Precious was her mother or step mother. [1]

She married Matthew W. Moore, on 16 May 1851 in Hopkins County, Kentucky. [3] They had two children:

  1. John Barrett Moore
  2. Octavia Moore.

Her husband Matthew died around 1855. On 6 September 1855 in Hopkins County, Kentucky, she married John Gatlin.

In 1860, Mary E. Gatlin, age 25, lived in or near Madisonville, Hopkins, Kentucky with husband John Gatlin, her two children from first marriage: John B Moore and Octava Moore; and her two Gatlin children: Martha T and Susan E.[2]
