Samuel (Dodd) Dod was born on 2 May 1657 in Branford, New Haven, Connecticut, son of Daniel Dod I (1615 - ~1665) and Mary (Wheeler) Dodd (<1615 - ~1657).[1]
He was left motherless at just 3 weeks old and fatherless at age 9. He arrived at Newark with his older siblings by 1667.
On 13 Feb 1678-9, Samuel was admitted as a Planter and he was assigned a lot near his brother Daniel at the northwest end of town. He received 25 acres on Watsesson, now Bloomfield.
Samuel died on 18 May 1714 in Newark, Essex, New Jersey aged 57.
At the time of Samuel's death, all of his children were minors. His will is the oldest Dod will on record in the state of New Jersey. It is dated 3 Feb 1712-3 and was proved 1714.
