Biography

Ennis Dodd was born on July 04, 1810, in Virginia, USA.

He married Mary Guinn, June, 2, 1832, in Hendricks County, Indiana, and they had two sons:

  1. John P. Dodd, Capt.
  2. Milton O. Dodd

Ennis was a widower in 1844 when Mary died.

He married Jemima Davenport on March 22, 1848, in Hendricks County, Indiana, and they had two daughters:

  1. Mary Catherine Dodd Stevenson
  2. Angeline Dodd

"Ennis signed a contract to rent-to-own a sawmill on December 22, 1852. On January 11,1853, the doctor was called to dress his wounds. By January 14, according to the doctor, it was clear his wounds were mortal. His family and friends rallied and helped, some worked in the sawmill. He signed his last note in April, then received care from April 5th to the 20th. His estate papers show the number of people who turned out to help, almost as if saying, "I helped, too." (Hendricks County, Indiana, Probate Court Supplement Documents; surname Dodd. (B9B, 2014 Apr 5, one of his great grandchildren 161 years later.))

Judge Ennis Dodd died April 20, 1853, in Danville, Hendricks, Indiana.

Judge Ennis Dodd, a well known citizen of this county, died at his residence, in North Salem, on Wednesday last. His death was the result of an injury received in a saw mill, some months ago. He was buried by the Masonic Fraternity.

Research Notes

-- 1. There are dozens of record images about Judge Ennis Dodd and what happened to him. His last injury is spelled out in documents on the internet and all are very heart wrenching for descendants.
-- 2. Autosomal DNA Verified Relationship
-- Ennis Dodd is verified as the father of Angeline (Dodd) Blanton and the grandfather of Katherine Olivi (Katie O.) (Blanton) Lowrimore, through a chromosome match between Donna and Grace.
--- Donna descends from Ennis and his 1st wife, Mary Guinn (Guynn, aka Quinn) Dodd
--- and Grace was the GGGgranddaughter of Ennis and his 2nd wife, Jemima (Davenport) Dodd Stevenson.
--- (FTDNA Family Finder chromosome match of 31 shared cMs, 9 cM longest block, and a relationship range of 5th C - Remote C.) 2018.
--- Grace and Donna were 5C and therefore must triangulate (per Wikitree) with another descendant of Ennis.
--- GEDmatch Genesis[1]. (Verogen, Inc.).
--- Wikitree. Help:Triangulation[2]. n.a., n.d. Quote: "If there is a common ancestral couple each child-to-parent relationship back to but not including the relationships to the ancestral couple can be marked as confirmed. The relationships to the common ancestral couple can be marked as confident." (Bold in original text.)
