Using his adopted name, Samuel Dodd Roberts he married Ellen Hunt on October 28, 1911 at the Parish Church of Towyn, Merionethshire, Wales. He was 27 years old and his father was Joseph Dodd, coachman. She was 26 and her father was Henry Hunt. Metal Worker. Witnesses were Thomas Wynne and her sister Kate Hunt.[6][7][8][9]
In the 1939 England and Wales Register, he was listed as Samuel D. Roberts born June 26, 1886 and a Permanent Way Labourer Heavy Worker. He and wife Ellen were living at 44 Towyn, Merionethshire (at times it's referred to as Montgomeryshire.[10][11]
According to his Probate record, Samuel died on October 30, 1954 in Preston, Lancashire, England. His residence was Emmanuel Vicarage.' About 153 pounds was left to his daughter Ivy Jane Fordham.
