Biography

Ruth was born in 1918. She was the daughter of Nelson Dodds and Iona Hellings.

She married Wesley Dodds McClelland (1915–1985). They had a son:

James W. Dodds "Jim" McClelland (1946– ).

She passed away in 2007.[1]

Ruth Dodds McClelland, 88, of Atlanta passed away Sunday.

A native of Washington County, PA, Ruth moved to Fulton County in 1960 with her family. She retired as a V.P. of Mortgage Lending with Bank South after 23 years of service. She was an active member of her church and enjoyed going to plays, ASO, playing bridge, traveling with Sr. University, and many other activities with her friends and neighbors at Lenbrook Square. She was a member of Northside Women's Club, Presbyterian Women, Naomi Circle, past member of Atlanta Women's Chamber of Commerce, and served as Treasurer of the Dogwood Festival for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley D. McClelland.

She is survived by her son, Jim, and daughter-in-law, Vicki of Woodstock; sister, Dorothy Fridley of Riverside, PA; brother, Bill Dodds of Langeloth, PA; sister-in-law, Evelyn Dodds of Atlanta; granddaughter, Wendi Covert and husband Joe of Acworth; two great-grandsons, Aaron and Jacob Covert of Acworth; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at Peachtree Presbyterian Church in Atlanta with Dr. Stephen M. Huntley officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Fuqua Heart Failure Resource Center at Piedmont Hospital, or Peachtree Presbyterian Church in her memory. Cremation Society of the SOUTH, Marietta, GA is in charge of arrangements, 770-420-5557.
