Obituary for E.W. Dodson by G.W. Berry:
“The subject of this article, to wit, E.W. Dodson was born August 25, 1850. Died February 15, 1925. He was united in the holy bond of matrimony to Virginia Hill Thompson in 1872. To this union was born seven children, five girls and two boys, all of whom still live except one girl. Brother Dodson joined the Primitive Baptist Church at Union in his boyhood and lived a consistent member of the same through life. Seemingly, he always tried to honor the profession he had made, by an orderly walk and a godly conversation. The writer of this obituary was called to the care of Union Church 25 years ago, and he can say truthfully that brother Dodson was about as near a model Christian as he has ever met. I learned to love him sometime after our first acquaintance; and a further knowledge of him served to increase this attachment and when at his request I conducted his burial, I felt that I had another good friend in heaven. His remains were laid to rest in the cemetery at Old Union Church amidst a large concourse of sorrowing friends and relatives. To the bereaved widow and children I would say, look to Jesus Christ alone for the garment of righteousness that will cover you and prepare you to stand before the righteous judge and pass the solemn test, and be with your loving husband and father where all is peace and love. “
