Ringgold, Pittsylvania was near the recruiting area for Company A of the 38th Virginia Infantry. Felix enlisted in Company A on October 14, 1864. He was taken as a POW in the last week of the war; April 2, 1865, at Dinwiddie Courthouse. He was sent to one of the most despised prison camps, Point Lookout prison in southern Maryland. Though Appomattox was April 9, prisoners were kept for a couple months thereafter. In Felix's case, he was released on June 11th.

The Findagrave page for Felix notes he served in the Ringgold Artillery(prior to going to Company A of the 38th Virginia).

Two other men from Company A who were captured at Dinwiddie Courthouse and sent to Point Lookout were brothers Clark and Moses Barker. They remained after Felix was released. Moses died at the prison on June 23, 1865, and Clark Barker was released the following day.
