Biography

Emeline Dodson was born on August 1, 1856 in Dodson, White, Tennessee, United States, daughter of Jesse Dodson (1814–1873) and Mary Caroline Earles (1826–1903).

Emeline (18) married John Wesley Broom (19) (born on June 17, 1856 in Union, North Carolina, United States; son of Joel Broom and Martha Jane (Gay) Broom) on July 30, 1875 in White. [1]

In the 1860 census Emily (age 4) was at 2nd District, White, Tennessee, United States.[2] Jessee Dodson 46, Caroline Dodson 30, Robert Dodson 22, America Dodson 20, Gillaspie Dodson 18, William Dodson 14, Wamen Dodson 13, Emily Dodson 4, Joseph Dodson 3, Mariah Dodson 2, Harvey M Dodson 0.

In the 1870 census Emma (age 14) was in White, Tennessee, United States.[3] Jesse Dodson 56, Caroline Dodson 40, Emma Dodson 14, Joseph Dodson 13, Harvey Dodson 10, Ma*or Dodson 12, Martha Dodson 8, Lee Dodson 7, Owens Dodson 5, Susan Dodson 3, Mack Dodson 1.

In the 1880 census Emily (age 23), Keeping House, was the wife of John W. Broom in District 10, Grainger, Tennessee, United States.[4] John W. Broom 21, wife Emily Broom 23, son Isaac C. Broom 4, daughter Mary M. Broom 2, daughter Martha A. Broom 5 months.

In the 1900 census Emily (age 45) was the wife of John Broom in White, Tennessee, United States.[5] John Broom 45, wife Emily Broom 45, son Clint Broom 25, son Joe Broom 16, daughter Della Broom 14, daughter Carrie Broom 12, daughter Flora Broom 9, son Norvel Broom 7, daughter Viller Broom 5, daughter Emma Broom 2.

Emeline died on January 18, 1907 in Lost Creek, White, aged 50. She was buried in Lost Creek Cemetery, White County, Tennessee.[6]
