Biography
Mary was born about 1776. She was baptised on 26 December 1778 in St. Clements, Hastings, Sussex, England. She was the daughter of Enoch Doe (1756-1817) and Ann Nancy Bithell (1753-1820).[1]
In 1800, Mary married John Bruorton (1777-1841) at St. Helen's in Worcester, Worcestershire, England.[2]
The couple had the following children, all baptised at Saint Peter's, Worcester, Worcestershire, England:
- William Henry, bp. 23 Oct 1803 [3]
- Catherine, bp. 23 Mar 1806 [4]
- George, bp. 19 Jun 1808[5]
- Edwin, bp. 27 May 1810[6]
The family emigrated, right after Edwin was born, to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. John signed his intention to become a citizen of the United States on 7 July 1810.[7]
They relocated to New York, where Mary died about 1828, and her husband John died about 1841.
