Biography

Eliza A Dogan was born 21 Mar 1858 in Virginia, USA. She was a daughter of Caroline Elizabeth Orange and Lemuel/Samuel Dogan. She had an older sister Mary F Dogan and two older brothers James Edward Dogan and John Thomas Dogan.

1860s

In 1860, Eliza Dogan (2) lived in Botetourt County, Virginia with her father Lemuel (40), mother Caroline (35), older sister Mary F (13), and older brothers James (10) and John (8). [1]

1870s

In 1870, Eliza A (13) lived in New Castle, Alleghany Township, Craig County with her father Samuel (49), mother Elizabeth (58), sister Mary F (22), brother John S (17), and brother James E (19). Samuel's real estate was valued at $150 and his personal estate valued at $125. Samuel and James worked as coopers, Elizabeth was a housekeeper, Mary and Eliza did house work. [2]

On 31 May 1870, her brother James Dogan (19) married Nancy "Nannie" Susan Hancock (17) in Craig County.

On 10 Apr 1878, her brother John L Dogan (26) married Malinda Adeline Dowdy (27) in Craig County.

1880s

In Jun 1880, Her brother James Dogan (29) lived in Alleghany district with his wife Nannie (27) and children. Her brother John Dogan (27) lived in Alleghany with his wife Malinda (28), twin sons and step-daughters.

1900s

In 1900, Liza A Harris (41) lived in Amsterdam Township with her sister Mary Dogan (51) and son Eddie A Dogan (21). [3] Her brother James E Dogan (49) lived in the town of Salem, Roanoke County with his wife Nancy S (47) and their children. Her brother John Dogan (48) lived in Amsterdam Township, Botetourt County with his wife Malinda A (49) and children.

1910s

In 1910, Eliza Harris (50) lived in Amsterdam with her son Mack E Dogan (30) and sister Mary Dogan (60). Eliza was divorced; Mary and Mack were single. Mack worked as a farm laborer. [4]

On 3 Aug 1914, Eliza A Dogan (56y, 4m, 13d) died in Blue Ridge town, Botetourt County from uterine cancer lasting 9 months. She was white, had worked in housekeeping, and born Mar 21, 1858 in Botetourt County, Virginia. Her father Lemuel J Dogan had been born in Hanover County, Virginia. Mother Carlin E Orange had been born in Amelia County, Virginia. The informant of her death was E.M. Dogan (son Eddie Mack Dogan?) of Troutville Virginia. She was buried August 4th at Burial Forest Chapel in Botetourt County. [5]
