She was the daughter of Edward Doherty[1] and his wife Bridget.[1]
In 1901 Kate was the sixth of eleven children living on the farm with her parents in Carrowmore, County Donegal.[1] She was 11 years old and attending school.[1] See Census, below.
Her married name was Catherine "Rena" McDevitt.
