Rose Doherty was born in 1901^[1] in County Donegal,^[1] Ireland. She was the daughter of Edward Doherty^[1] and his wife Bridget.^[1]

In the 1901 census she was two months old, the youngest of eleven children living on the farm with her parents in Carrowmore, County Donegal.^[1] See Census, below.
