Biography

Charlotte was born between 1769 and 1772. [1][2]

She married Remi dit René Landry, son of Alexis Landry and Marie Theriot, around 1786.[1]

Children:[1]

  1. Mathilde Bathilde 1787
  2. Hilarion 1788
  3. Omer Toussaint 1790
  4. Constance Marie 1792
  5. Céleste 1793
  6. Henriette 1795
  7. Madeleine1797
  8. Blanche 1799
  9. Victoire 1801
  10. Jean 1802
  11. Pierre 1805
  12. Angélique Céleste 1807

She is identified as "deceased" on the Marriage Omer Landry, 22 Sep 1909 / Marriage Batilde Landry, 21 Nov 1809.[1] [3]

She is not listed as deceased in Batilde Landry's marriage to Michel Daigle on 21 Nov 1809, in Caraquet (St-Pierre-aux-Liens).[4]

She is not listed as deceased in Constance Landry's marriage to Pierre Doucet on 21 Nov 1809, in Caraquet (St-Pierre-aux-Liens)[5]

She is listed as deceased in Omer Landry's marriage to Emille (sic) Goulet (Lucille in the text), on 22 Sep 1818, in Caraquet (St-Pierre-aux-Liens), but this looks like a transcription error because the text of the original document only says, "with parental consent, I married Omer Landri, son of legal age of Rémi Landri, farmer, and of Charlotte Doiron of the Grand'Anse". There is no mention of Charlotte's being deceased. [6]

She is not listed as deceased in Angélique Landry`s marriage to Gilbert Boudreau 15 Nov 1825, in Petit-Rocher (St-Polycarpe)[7]

She is listed as deceased in the text of the original document of Pierre Landry`s marriage to Luce Boudreault (sic) 13 Feb 1827, in Petit-Rocher (St-Polycarpe)[8][9]

Research Notes

Unknown parents discussion:

  • Marcel Walter Landry comes to the same conclusions. « Suite à des recherches de l'ADNmt de ses descendantes et d'une recherche de Stephen White, elle est maintenant identifiée comme fille de Joseph Doiron et Geneviève Hébert dit D'azy. » [1] However, Remi dit René Landry is the son of Alexis Landry and Marie Anne Thériault.
  • Very convincing research by Marcel Walter Landry shows that Charlotte, 4th child of Joseph Doiron and Geneviève Hébert, was born around 1770 at an unknown location, but very likely outside Quebec. «Her parents were still in Quebec on 22 May 1769 at the burial of her brother Joseph. Considering the fact that if she had been born in Quebec a baptism record would exist, she must have been born after this date. She had her first child on 18 April 1787 therefore she was very likely married in 1786. So she must have been born between 1769 (17 years of age when she married) and 1772 (14 years at marriage). » [1]
  • Landry also notes that when Charlotte and Rémi's daughter Constance was baptized, her godparents were Pierre Pinette? and Marguerite Cormier. (The godfather was probably Pierre Pinet who married a niece of Rémi Landry.
  • Searched Family Search and Ancestry, several entries for a Charlotte Doiron but none are a close match.
  • Her parents are often shown as Zacharie Amable Doiron and Anne LeVicaire, but Anne LeVicaire carries an Amerindian Haplogroup of A2[11] while a descendant of Charlotte Landry has the haplogroup X2b7... therefore, her mother is not Anne LeVicaire.
  • An ancestry.com tree points to a Drouin birth record for "Charlotte Doiron, but that baptism was performed on Jan [or June?] 8, 1862, born Decembre 20, no year of birth given. Father is Agapit [best I can do] can't make out the mother. This Charlotte, born 20 Dec 1861, was the daughter of Agapit Doiron and Françoise Lanteigne. Baptism 8 Jan 1862 in Caraquet. Her godparents were Jean Chouinard and Ann Poulin. (Source: Actes d'état civil et registres d'église du Québec (Collection Drouin), 1621 à 1997 - Gabriel Drouin, comp. Her last daughter was born in Sep 1807: Baptism Céleste Landry

Two of her children were married in 1809. She is identified as "deceased" on both records: Marriage Omer Landry, 22 Sep 1909 Marriage Batilde Landry, 21 Nov 1809

Doiron-15 and Doiron-1015 appear to represent the same person because: Appear to be the same person, same year of birth, same year of death.

I find this website very reliable for Landry information, here's the page for Charlotte which shows her parents as Joseph (Derouen-102) and Geneviève Hébert dit d'Azy (Hebert-3915) :

What is the next step in the process to add these as Charlotte's parents? I don't know how these PPP profiles are managed.

Hi Rod,

Thank you for sharing this research. Only Acadians Project leaders or coordinators can add parents, spouses or children to protected profiles. You did the right thing by posting a comment. I will look at the information on Landry’s website and get back to you.

Charlotte's parents were removed some time ago. Her profile is project protected by the Acadian Project so that parents can't be re-added until such time as they are identified.

I have reviewed the research of the Doiron Family by Fidele Thériault - Les Familles de Caraquet p. 134 idents children of Zacharie and Anne and no Charlotte is listed. I also reviewed « Les descendants de Zacharie Doiron et Anne LeVicaire by Odette Hache p. 71 and again Charlotte is not listed as a child.
Under Family Search Charlotte is listed LD29-N22 birth 1768 death 1827. Children include Celeste, Madeleine and Angelique. It also identifies Zacharie and Anne LeVicaire as parents but does not have any sources for this.
Removed Zacharie Doiron and Anne Vicaire who were re-added as parents. There is ample evidence that these are NOT her parents but we don't yet know who are parents are. Thanks!

Removed Zacharie Doiron and Anne Vicaire as parents until better research is available to us.

I haven't found any evidence that she is daughter of Zacharie Doiron and Anne Vicaire. In fact a matrilineal descendant of hers has haplogroup X2b7 and not A2 like Francoise Rousseau (Anne Vicaire's mother) has. Therefore, I am detaching the parents, but will leave note in research notes.

Hi Donna,

Recent DNA research seems to indicate that Joseph Doiron and Genevieve Hebert could be Charlotte’s parents. Karen Theriot Reader mentions the tree of Cassiopeia Salazar in Family Tree DNA, and Marcel Walter Landry says that research by Stephen White confirms this parentage through ADNmt. I tried to find more information online to try to understand this research but found nothing. Would you be able to find information and add it to the research note above? And what do think about this theory? It seems pretty convincing to me. Thanks in advance for your help.

Charlotte was born in 1759; her mother in 1752. Please fix.

Update: removed the mother; not possible due to dates
