I saw your note about not being able to complete a merge. I think its because one of the profiles is a "Private" profile. The profile manager will have to change the privacy level. If the profile manager is no longer active, there are steps you can go through to become the profile manager yourself. . . . Here's the Help Page if there in a unresponsive profile manager
