Biography

James was born in 1854 In Meriwether County, Georgia.He was the son of Brice Dollar and Naoma Oliver. He moved with his family to Randolph County, Alabama. His father moved the family to an area in the southern portion of the county known as Louina. His father obtained a small 40 acre parcel of land and worked the farm. This is where the family were living on the census of 1860. James as he grew older worked on the farm along with his siblings.

War came to the South and to Alabama in the Spring of 1861. James and his brothers were young boys during the conflict. His father, Brice did not serve in the military during the war. He did write letters for his neighbors to send to their husbands that were off to war. In particular was his neighbor Rhoda Key.

After the war James was living with his family in Township 22 and Fair Play Post Office in Randolph County in 1870. He was married to Amanda P. Windsor about 1877. He and Amanda started a family and he was a farmer. His father died in 1879. By 1880 James and Amanda had two children and they were living in Louina Beat Number 9. James and Amanda were still living in Louina Precinct in 1900 and they had 10 children all of which were living. He and Amanda lived very near to Naomi and Bea Dollar. He owned his farm.


James D. and Amanda had 10 children. He and Amanda moved to Lineville in Clay County by 1920. He was still farming and had his own farm. His son Monroe was living next door to him. Amanda Pearl was living nearby also with her family. His wife died in 1930. He remarried in 1931 in Clay County, Alabama to Laura Elizabeth Graben. He passed away in 1944 and was buried at Rock Springs Cemetery in Randolph County, Alabama.

James Daniel Dollar and Amanda had the following children:

James was born in 1854. He passed away in 1944. [1]
