Biography
Sarah Jane was born about 1855 in County Armagh Ireland.
Sarah Jane's father was James Donnelly and her mother was Catherine Leckie, who was also called Christina.
From the 1861 Census, Sarah Donnelly was aged 6yrs old and was living with her family in Bo-ness Road Holytown.

Sarah Jane Donnelly, married John O'Hara at the age of 16yrs, on the 21st of February 1871 at Bothwell. John was a Miner and aged 20yrs.
Sarah Jane worked as a Hawker.
(A hawker is a vendor of merchandise that can be easily transported. In most places where the term is used, a hawker sells inexpensive goods, handicrafts, or food items. Whether stationary or mobile, hawkers often advertise by loud street cries or chants, and conduct banter with customers, to attract attention and enhance sales.)
According to a Poor Law record in 1890, John may have deserted her when she was aged 26yrs with 6 children. No details of why the couple parted.
In the 1881 Scotland Census, Sarah Jane O'Hara aged 26yrs, was residing at 135, Rosehall.
Staying with her were her family, Catherine Donnelly 54yrs, her mother and John O'Hara 30yrs her husband.

Her husband deserted her 9yrs earlier.
Occupation 'Hawker '. Children: Michael 17yrs, William 15yrs, John 12yrs, Patrick 9yrs, Constantine 4yrs, Joseph 2yrs. (2 Children illegitimate)

Sarah Jane saw a doctor and was diagnosed as having a 'Typhoid Relapse' which would likely last 2 - 3 weeks and there was a risk her children would suffer neglect. Sarah Jane was given 2/- for relief.

Influenza / Cold - Sent to the Poor House.
16th November 1908 Poor Law application for assistance Sarah Jane Donnelly O'Hara aged 33yrs, residing at Reids Lane Stewarton Street Wishaw.
Born in Lurgan County Down. (Single / Divorced). Roman Catholic.
Occupation 'Hawker' wholly disabled due to Influenza / cold.
Parents James Donnelly and Catherine Leckie both deceased.
Suffering from Alcoholic dysphasia and wholly disabled.
13th May 1909 Poor Law application for assistance Sarah Jane Donnelly O'Hara aged 33yrs, residing at Reids Lane Stewarton Street Wishaw.
Suffering from an Ulcer to Foot. Sent to Poor House in Lanark.
Sarah Jane Donnelly died 11 months later on the 9th of April 1910, aged 56yrs from a Duedenal ulcer. She was living at 6, Furnace Row, Newmains.
