James worked in a warehouse. His children grew up in Mt. Oliver, PA: Clarence (b. abt. 1911, Charles, b. abt. 1913, Margaret, b. 1915, Alice, b. about 1817). The 1920 Census clearly lists James, Mary (Nath), and their four children.
The 1880 Census for PA lists a few James Donovans. It's possible his parents were Rose and Chas / Charles, however there are no parents listed on his death certificate.
In the 1910 Census, there is a James Donovan in the Pittsburgh area still living at home with Rose Donovan; and another living with a group of Russian immigrants. He is listed as "companion" to head of household. I am not sure what that means. Either of these men could have been our ancestor.
We do not have any records of James' birth. His death certificate lists parents as "unknown". Any tips to solving this family mystery are appreciated.
