Biography

Emma was born in 1853. She was the daughter of Melchior Dorn and Elisabetha Schmidt. She passed away in 1927.

In the 1870's, she married Philip Kunkel and together they had 8 children. It is interesting to note that her sister, Albertina, married the brother of her husband, Adam Kunkel.

Emma and her children, Lena and Joseph, were injured in an industrial accident involving a flywheel that came apart in the early morning hours of January 1, 1926. The flywheel torn in the neighboring section of the rowhouse killing a child there and injuring the three of them in their unit. In the article below, you can see the maps showing plots of land and where the Kunkel's had two units next door to the Jones. I do not have a Newspaper.com subscription but there are articles there detailing the incident and including the Kunkel's injuries.
