Biography

Thomas was born in 1886. He was the son of William Dorney and Anna Lynch.[1] He passed away in 1967.

In 1900 Thomas was living in Norwalk, Fairfield, CT, with his parents, and his younger siblings Jeremiah, Margaret and Julia. [2] Their surname has been mistranscribed as Downey.

At the time of the 1910 Census Thomas was living at 19 Camp Street in Norwalk, Fairfield, CT with his parents, William and Anna, and his three younger siblings, Jeremiah, Margaret and Mary. He was working as a machinist in a factory.[3]

Thomas registered for draft in United States for World War I on 12 September 1918 in Fairfield, Connecticut.[4] His home address was recorded as 13 Berkeley Street, Norwalk, Fairfield, CT, and he was working as a policeman for the City of Norwalk. His next of kin was his wife, Mrs Annie Dorney. Thomas was described as of medium height and stout build, with grey eyes and black hair.

In the 1920 Census, Thomas is still living at Norwalk, at 13 Berkley Street, this time with only his siblings Jeremiah and Mary, his parents and wife having all passed away in the 1918 Influenza epidemic. His profession was given as Officer, presumably Police Officer.[5]

Thomas was still living at 13 Berkley Street, Norwalk in 1940, this time with his cousin, 47 year old Julia Donovan, born in Northern Ireland. Thomas was working as a Captain in the Police Department.[6]

Thomas again registered for the draft in World War II. His next of kin was Jeremiah Dorney.[7]

Thomas passed away on 5 February 1967.[8]
