Edward was born in 1906 in Warrnambool.

He married his wife Ellen Breen there in 1926 and they had seven children together, Wanda, in 1927, Charles John (Jacky) in 1929, George Noel in 1931, Nelda in 1933, Ian in 1935, Maree Gail in 1945 and Suzanne in 1947. All the sons had the nickname of ‘Skipper’ that often made for a lot of confusion.

In October 1935 his son Noel was knocked down by a motor-car driven by Mr. George Melville. He was admitted to hospital suffering from head injuries.

In 1938 (Edward) Charles was arrested in Camperdown for being drunk and disorderly.

He entered his daughter Maree into a photo competiton in The Argus newspaper in 1947.

Edward was a housepainter by trade.

Edward died in December 1959 at the age of 53 and was buried in the Warrnambool cemetery
