Squire Dorrell was a Justice of the Peace in White River Township, Johnson County, in the early 1900s.
In 1914, he ran in the Democratic party primary election for township trustee in White River Township and lost.[1] At some time after that, he moved from White River Township to the Town of Greenwood in Pleasant Township and was appointed one of the two J.P.s in Pleasant Township by the county commissioners. [2]
He served as J.P. in Pleasant Township from at least 1919 to 1945.[3],[4]
This Daniel Dorrell should not be confused with Daniel Dorrell born 8 January 1832 and died 21 March 1912. Both men were of the same name and both were in White River Township, Johnson County, Indiana at the same time. Both men went by D. D. Dorrell. The elder Daniel's obituary[5] shows that this Daniel was not the son of that Daniel. The 1870 and 1880 census records also show no Daniel as a son of the elder Daniel.
