Biography

Research Notes

removed death ate of 1826 since there is a 2nd Micajah in this family with death date of 1826, so this person probably died young.

Micajah Doss was born sometime between 1766- 1770 to Zachariah Doss and Elizabeth Adkins.

A marriage bond between Micajah Doss and Mary Swain with Charles Swain as surety was recorded on December 19th, 1792. [1] Their marriage was recorded as December 23rd, 1793. [2] It is highley unlikely they waited a year to get married. The year 1793 could be a transcription error.

In 1810, Micajah appears on the Census in Giles County, Virginia. [3] He is the only Doss on that census for Giles County.

Micajah passed away about sometime before 1826.

Research Notes

Micajah's birth record has not been located. His estimated date is seen as an unsourced entry on many family trees but the date varies wildly from 1766 to as late as 1770. As such, the date of "Before 1770" is used here. His death record has also not been located. Here too the date varies between 1820-1826.

This profile previous showed: "Residence, 1755-1800, Ballard, Kentucky, USA". It is unclear if this entry belongs to this Micajah because of it's location.

Micajah was previously attached to Anna Catharina Harless as a spouse without sources. No marriage record can be found. Anna is not listed in the "Harless Genealogy, John Philip and Anna Margaretha (Preiss) Harless, Pioneers in Western Virginia and Some of their Descendants." Her origin is unclear.

Doss-519 and Doss-52 appear to represent the same person because: Same person, previous profile included same death date and removed it with a note on bio that it couldn't be the same as his brother. No documentation suggests that there were two children of the same name.
Doss-823 and Doss-519 appear to represent the same person because: part of duplicated family, parents proposed merges, dates similar, same parents.
