Jordan married Mary "Polly" Wilson in 4 Dec 1825 at Ashe, North Carolina.[2] Mary was listed as Polly or Pollie in some records. This is because Polly was a frequent nickname for Mary the same as Bob would be for Robert or Bill for William.

That was in the late 1840's, some twenty years after the first settlers arrived there.

[An additional note from the annals of Family History states that Jordan died by drowning. It seems that he was "walking a footlog across Calloway Creek during a flood when he fell in and drowned before anyone could save him". This is documented in two handwritten family manuscripts in my possession. {Dotson-511}]
