Biography

Jordan as born in 1804 in North Carolina. [1]

Jordan married Mary "Polly" Wilson in 4 Dec 1825 at Ashe, North Carolina.[2] Mary was listed as Polly or Pollie in some records. This is because Polly was a frequent nickname for Mary the same as Bob would be for Robert or Bill for William.

Together they had the following children:

Confirmed by 1850 Census, 1860 Census, 1870 Census, and Grave Marker<p><p><p>Family history tells that Jordan came to Pike Co., KY on upper Johns Creek to hunt for game. He got "snowed in" and had to spend the winter in a large hollow tree. When Spring came, he went back to VA, got his family, and moved just across the hill from where he had spent the first winter, to Peter Creek. That was in the late 1840's, some twenty years after the first settlers arrived there.

Both Jordan and Mary are buried in the ColemanDotson cemetery on Road Fork of the Right Fork of Peter Creek.

Jordan was born about 1804. He passed away in 1887.

[An additional note from the annals of Family History states that Jordan died by drowning. It seems that he was "walking a footlog across Calloway Creek during a flood when he fell in and drowned before anyone could save him". This is documented in two handwritten family manuscripts in my possession. {Dotson-511}]
