Biography
Agnes was baptized in the Reformed Church. Her husband Jost / Justus BITTING joined the Moravians 1743, but Agnes did so only in 1756; her birth record is in Moravian records but also appears on her burial stone in Leidig’s Burying Ground as copied by George S. Nyce and published by Dotterer in Dec 1894. It reads: Hier Ruhet in Gott der Leib der verstorbenen Agnes BITTINGEN, Gebohren d: 14ten Feberware [sic] 1727. Gestorben d: 2ten November 1785 Ihres Alters 58 Jahr 8 Monnat und 8 Tag.” They are both buried at Leidig’s Cemetery in Frederick Tp Montgomery Co PA. Geocities website lists all her children under Oley Moravian Church. All born at Falkner Swamp.
