George Doty was born on 20 Aug 1800 in Westmoreland, Pennsylvania, United States, son of Nathaniel Doty (1758–1848) and Jane (Bockoven) Doty (1767–1850).

George died on 31 Mar 1878 in Indiana, Indiana, Pennsylvania, United States, aged 77.[1] He was buried in Gilgal Cemetery, East Mahoning Township, Pennsylvania.
George married Hannah (Jellison) Doty (born on 1 May 1807 in Derry, Westmoreland, Pennsylvania, USA; daughter of Robert Jellison Jr. and Mary Carns). Their known children were:
