Philogene Doucet was born 6 May 1870 to Zepherin Doucet and Alida (sometimes Hida) Lavergne.[1] His death certificate incorrectly gives the date as 7 May 1871.[2] Gravestone has May 7 1870.
He married Marie Fruge in 1818 with the civil date being 14 March and the church date 31 May.[3]
They had one child, a son named Jasper, born 1 December 1899[4], who was listed with his parents in the 1900 US Census.[5]
After his first wife died, Philogene remarried to Joasine Reed in 1903[6], likely before September, the month that Joasine turned 16.[7]
He died 17 April 1955 at Memorial Hospital in Fort Stockton, TX where he had been for about eight days, apparently following a stroke.[2]
He is buried in Orange Grove Cemetery, Lake Charles, Calcasieu Parish, Louisisiana. [8]
Known Children
All but the first child were from his second marriage to Joasine Reed.
Jasper, son of first wife, Marie Fruge, bn. 1 December 1899.[4]; he served in World War I, but apparently didn't serve overseas.[9]
