Biography

Michel was born on 20 March 1865 and was baptized on 23 march 1865 in Margaree. [1] He was the son of Victor Doucet and Marie Chiasson.[2]

He was listed in the 1871 census at age 7 with his family in Margaree, Cape Breton Island.[3] He was counted again with his family in 1881.[4]

Michel Doucet, son of Victor Doucet (deceased) and Marie Chiasson, was married to Margaret Arsenault, daughter of William Arsenault and Donatile Muse, on 7 January 1890 in Margaree. [1] On the 1891 census in East-Margaree, Michel, a fisherman, was listed with his wife Marie (sic) and son Lubin. Living next door was his widowed mother Marie with her children Harriet, Alexander, Celeste and Arsene. [5] His wife Marguerite Arsenault died on 24 March 1906 in Waltham, Massachusetts. The cause of death was an abortion.[6]

He married Sarah Anne Richard on August 14, 1910 at Riviere-du-Portage.[7] The witnesses were Andre Richard and Olive?

In 1911 they were living in Saumarez Parish, Gloucester, New Brunswick. No children were recorded. [8]

In the 1921 census, there were 4 sons in the household. Michel is named Alexandre. [9]

He passed away in 1939. His parents are identified as Victor Doucet and Marie Chiasson of East Margarie. His wife was Sara Jeanne Richard. Michel died of pneumonia. [10]

  • According to an Ancestry Family Tree Lubin died in 1891 in Nova Scotia. They had another son Joseph, born 02 AUG 1892 • Montreal, Canada. Died 27 MAR 1960 in Massachusetts. He married Germaine Deschênes in 1925 in Middleborough, Plymouth, Massachusetts.
