Jacques Doucet was born about 1671. [1]

He was the son of Germain Doucet and Marie Landry. He was 8 years old on the 1678 Census of Port Royal.[2]

In 1686, at Port Royal, Jacques, aged 15, was living with his parents, Germain DOUCET, aged 45, and Marie LANDRY, aged 35, and his seven siblings: Bertrand [sic], aged 19, Laurens [sic], aged 16, Claude, aged 12, Marie, aged 8, Jeanne, aged 6, Alexis, aged 4, and Pierre, aged 1. They lived on 5 arpents of cultivable land with 9 cattle and 10 sheep.[3]

In 1693, at Port Royal, Jacques, aged 22, was living with his parents, Germain DOUCET, aged 50, and Marie LANDRY, aged 44, and his two brothers: Claude, aged 19, and Pierre, aged 8. The family owned 2 guns and was living on 18 arpents of cultivable land with 8 cattle, 12 sheep, and 10 pigs.[4]

Jacques (24) married Marie Pellerin (16) (born in 1678; daughter of Étienne Pellerin and Jeanne Savoie) in 1695 in Acadie. They had 11 children, including three sons, who married into the Bourg, Léger, and Dugas families. Three of their daughters married into the Lord, Simon dit Boucher, and Landry families.[5]

Jacques died after June 30, 1751 as he was alive at his daughter's marriage.[6]

Les recensements nous laissent entendre qu'un fils est né dans cette famille entre 1700 et 1703. Après une élimination des possibilités, nous sommes porté à croire que ce fils ne pouvait être que Jean Doucet, le futur époux de Judith Bourg. (Translation: The censuses show that a son was born in this family between 1700 and 1703. After eliminating the possibilities, we are led to believe that this son could only be Jean Doucet, the future husband of Judith Bourg.)
