1. Polly Elizabeth1 Jelliff, daughter of Benjamin Jelliff* and Polly (or Phoebe) Read Gitchell, (#7424) was born in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania 12 JUN 1830. Individual flags: Photograph. Polly died 15 FEB 1924 at age 93. Her body was interred FEB 1924 in State Road Cemetery, Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. She married Daniel Rumsey Doud 24 FEB 1853 in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. (Daniel Rumsey Doud is #7254.) Daniel was born 13 JUL 1826 in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Daniel was the son of Munson Elezer Doud and Phoebe Hayden. Daniel died 5 OCT 1892 in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, at age 66. His body was interred OCT 1892 in State Road Cemetery, Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Daniel was listed as the head of a family on the 1880 Census in Covington Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Daniel was a carpenter Jean Rumsey, Doud Ancestry p. RD92-13 indicates that Nancy was Polly's step-mother, not her mother.

Polly Elizabeth Jelliff and Daniel Rumsey Doud had the following children:

2 i. Amy M.2 Doud (#6786). Amy is not in any census but is included in work identified by Jean Rumsey as Jean Blissard,Richmond TX, 1979 and a "Mrs." L.E. Humphrey (real name not given) in Genealogy of the Gallop and Gitchell, typescript. Amy probably died as an infant.

3 ii. Henry C. Doud (#15712). Henry also does not appear in any census. Jean Rumsey cites Ms. Blissard for this name. Henry probably died as an infant.

4 iii. Phoebe R. Doud (#9392) was born in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania 1854. Phoebe died 6 DEC 1924 at age 70. She married Fred C. Nowlan* BEF 1877. (Fred C. Nowlan* is #6169.) Fred was born about 1853 in New York. Fred was of Blossburg, PA. Jean Blissard wrote to Jean Rumsey in 1980; "Our local family joke is that Phoebe tried to populate the world. She had 9 children who lived. Her oldest one had at least eight. They went West with the Zionist movement, or so the story goes. Fred died about the time the last child was born. They were in Iowa for a while but eventually returned to the Corning NY area." The only census record found for them was in 1880 in Dodge, Dodge Township, Ford County, Kansas.

5 iv. Munson B. Doud (#9763) was born in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania 18 MAY 1865. Munson died 25 FEB 1939 in Painted Post, Steuben County, New York, at age 73. His body was interred FEB 1939 in Corning, Steuben County, New York. He married Lieudella Wheat BEF 7 MAR 1900 in Corning, Steuben County, New York. (Lieudella Wheat is #38539.) Della was born MAR 1865 in New York. Della was the daughter of John N. Wheat*. Both Ludella and Munson were of Covington PA at the tim eof their marriage. Her parents were born in NY and Mass. Munson & Ludella were in Corning in 1900 where he was employed as a carpenter in a Car Shop. His father-in-law, who lived with them, was a wagon maker. Ludella handpainted china when that was a popular hobby. Munson was noted for driving very fast and for being good natured. (See Jean Rumsey- Doud Ancestry p. RD92-13a)

6 v. Elmina Rose Doud (#9764) was born in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania 21 MAY 1867. Mina died 19 Nov 1963 in Willard, Seneca County, New York, at age 96. Her body was interred Nov 1963 in Corning, Steuben County, New York. She married William Keeley McMullin 13 Feb 1902 in Corning, Steuben County, New York. (William Keeley McMullin is #38541.) William was born 24 Sep 1878 in Corning, Steuben County, New York. William was the son of George W. McMullin* and Elizabeth Hoelzer*. William died 25 Feb 1946 in Painted Post, Steuben County, New York, at age 67. His body was interred Feb 1946 in Corning, Steuben County, New York. Mina was a woman of spirit and independence. See Jean Rumsey - Doud Ancestry p. RD92-30 for interesting details of Mina's life and personality. She stretched the boundaries that limited women all her life.

7 vi. Claude Francis Doud (#38542) was born in Sullivan Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania 25 FEB 1873. Claude died 12 JUL 1957 in Corning, Steuben County, New York, at age 84. He married twice. He married Theresa Marian Davis 29 AUG 1904 in Williamstown, Oswego County, New York. (Theresa Marian Davis is #38543.) Theresa was born 27 JUN 1875 in New York. Theresa was the daughter of Solomon Peter Davis and Mary Jane Maltby*. Theresa died 11 APR 1914 in Corning, Steuben County, New York, at age 38. Died of Typhoid, pneumonia in Corning Hospital.

Her body was interred APR 1914 in Corning, Steuben County, New York. He married Sarah Gillen* 1916 in Corning, Steuben County, New York. (Sarah Gillen* is #38544.) Sarah was born 1877.
