In Sept. 1838, John Dougherty gave an affidavit in which he swore, "That he has by his said wife Mary four children now living and all smart active and intelligent children viz — Sarah Bridget, aged about 6 Years, James Philip aged about 4 years, Maryann aged about 2 years and Logan aged one year."
