Jones' Brigade and participated in various engagements in East Tennessee and western Virginia. During April, 1864, it contained 240 effectives, and in July it merged into the 25th Virginia Cavalry Regiment. Lieutenant Colonel Henry A. Edmundson was in command.
Note there was another William P Dougherty (Private Company A 22nd Cav) from Scott Co, but he died in May 15, 1865 in a Union Prison camp in Ohio, this William P. was likely a 1st cousin?
