Biography

Hugh (Douglas) Douglas of Borg is a member of Clan Douglas.
European Aristocracy
Hugh Douglas was a member of the aristocracy in British Isles.

Hugh was the second son of Henry Douglas and Margaret Douglas.[1] [2]

He married Christian Seton, daughter of George Seton, 1st Lord Seton and Christian Murray before 1479, as mentioned in the Great Seal Register.[3][1][1] They had issue:

  1. Hugh[1]
  2. George[1]

Hugh died in or before 1507.[1]

Research Notes

Hugh relinquished rights to Dalkeith to his cousin in 1474[4] and one can infer he was at least 14 at the time placing his birth before 1460 with certainly. One can refine that date a bit more by observing his father's death was prior to 1456 placing Hugh's birth prior to Aug 1456 with equal certainty.[2] It is likely he was of full age when he relinquished those rights in 1474, so that one can expect he was born before 1453 with some, but not complete, confidence.
