Elizabeth was born about 1490. She is the daughter of James Douglas.[1] She married James Douglas in 1543.[1][2]
Research Notes
Birth dates for Elizabeth and her parents are not available but we do know that her parents married before 10 Dec 1507 and that Elizabeth married in 1543. Previously, the birth was placed around 1590 but that conflicted with the then current birith date of her mother. The date of Elizabeth's marriage helps only a little until combined with the fact that there were three daughters from that marriage. Working backwards, we can say that it is quite rare for a woman to conceive after age 47 so that she would not have been older than 43 in 1543 and likely closer to 20 (or possibly much younger) giving us a range from 1500 to 1525 with 1512 a reasonable median.
