Mariot Douglas was born about 1510.
She probably married about 1530 to John Mortimer of Flemington in the parish of Aberlemno, Angus.
By 7 June 1549 Mariot was a widow when at Brechin, she with others sold the lands of Bellyhill and Welltree to Robert Milne. [1]
After that date Mariot Douglas married as second wife to Master William Erskine brother to John Erskine of Dun.
On 21 June 1553, Queen Mary confirmed a charter to Master William Erskine of Auchnagray and Mariot Douglas his spouse in the lands of Auchnagray, Easter Auchleurchie, and the west quarter of Inshewan with its brasina (brewery) and croft of Kinalty in the barony of Kinalty which Master William had resigned for them to be jointly infeft.[2]
