That there was a marriage between John Wallace of Craigie and a Catharine Douglas is not so much in doubt as is the question of whether that Catharine was the same as the subject of this profile. The attached source states that she was 'the daughter to the Earl of Angus, now Duke of Douglass' but there is no evidence that any Earl of Angus had a daughter Catherine - at least not in this timeframe. That Catherine's aunt, Margaret, had married the grandfather of the putative husband tends to add confidence to this alleged marriage by showing that there were familial ties in place as first cousins once removed.
