Biography

James Orville Douglas(s) was born October 6, 1908 in the rural Fannin county farming community of Leonard, Texas. [1] In the mid 1920's James Douglas(s) left the small North Texas farming community of Leonard, Texas where he worked his father's farm and persued a career as a semi-pro baseball player. Farm work didn't have great appeal for "Jimmy" and about 1925 he left Leonard for greater opportunity to be found in the big city of Dallas. There during the depression years he took whatever work he could find until he joined the police force with the support of his former Fannin county neighbor and soon to be father-in-law, Dallas Police Capt E.V. Bunch. [2]

In the mid 40's with the economy booming and U.S. servicemen returning home at the end of WW ll the demand for housing increased and he entered the booming home construction business. After a long and successful home construction career he retired in his 70's as his health began to decline. He passed away in 1983 at Dallas, Texas.[3] He was buried in the Masonic section at Restland Memorial Park, Richardson, Texas. He was active in the Methodist and later Baptist Church. He was a lifelong Mason having attained the 33rd degree of Scottish Rite Freemasonry.

Marriage

On October 5, 1929 he married Capt Bunch's daughter, Ruth. From that union came three children.
