Agnes Busby was an early European settler in Australia and New Zealand, married to James Busby, the first British Resident of New Zealand.

Agnes was baptised on July 18, 1800 in Greenock, Renfrewshire, Scotland, the daughter of John Dow and Jessie Campbell.[1]

She married James Busby in 1832.[2] They had issue, including:

  1. George Alexander. b. 1839, d. 15 Nov 1859[3]
  2. Agnes, b. 1846, d. 16 Feb 1847[4]

Death

Agnes died on 13 Oct 1889.[5][6][7][8][9]

1830 - emigrated to N.S.W. Australia (ship Warrior) with brother John Dow & sister, Mrs Susannah Sempill, wife of Hamilton Collins Sempill who was manager of Thomas Potter MacQueen’s Estate “Segenhoe” near Aberdeen in the Hunter Valley, N.S.W.
