DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with James by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with James:
James married Susannah/Susan Kannady "Kennedy" probably around 1840, based upon the birth of their oldest child. In 1850 they were residing in Farmington, Franklin, ME. In 1860 they were in Avon. Either James died or divorced by 1870, as his wife appears remarried to an Ira Russell at that time, and nothing further is found on James. It's possible he may have died during/from the Civil War.
By 1880 Susannah and her family had moved to Becker Co. Minnesota, where she died on 25 July 1900. Her 1900 census indicates she had 5 children. Known children of James and Susan are: Franklin, Samuel, Drusilla, James Roscoe, and Susan B. "Velzora". Franklin and Samuel died young, both in 1851, and are buried in Maine.
