Rebecca was born 12 Feb 1852 to Solomon Dowden and Jane Elizabeth Harris. She married John Edward Benson on 17 Dec 1872 at Neelsville Presbyterian Church in Montgomery, Maryland. They had 7 children: John Edgar, Lily E., William Solomon, Emma J., Orion Randall, Nellie Montgomery, and Heeleedee Estelle. She passed away on 24 Mar 1901 in Goshen, Montgomery, Maryland. She is buried at Neelsville Presbyterian Cemetery in Germantown, Montgomery, Maryland.
