Richard Dowding married Ann Spencer at Sutton St Nicholas on 26 Oct 1775.^[2]

Richard Dowding was buried at Bishop's Frome on 16 Jan 1817 aged 66.^[3]

The Will of Ann Dowding of Bishops Froome widow of Richard Dowding, gent, deceased was made on 26 Jun 1834 and proved on 26 Feb 1841. The following is from an extract.^[4]

Indenture: 31 July and 1 Aug 1775 - between 1)Richard DOWDING the elder and Richard DOWDING the yr, 2)William SPENCER and I the said Ann DOWDING by name Ann SPENCER, daur of said William and 3)Charles COOKE and Thomas GARSTONE.

Marriage between Richard DOWDING the younger and the said Ann SPENCER - all that rente of the manor or capitol messuage of Bishops Frome was granted by 1) to Margaret HILL and William BALDWIN the elder, Edward, William the Younger, Elizabeth and Lucy BALDWIN.

Original agreement between Herbert CROFT (then long since deceased) and Francis FREEMAN. I the said Ann DOWDING have 7 children living by my late husband viz: Richard DOWDING the yr, Mary, Elizabeth, Margaret (now wife of George JANCEY), William, John and Francis.

Indenture: 20 and 21 Sep 1814 - between 1)Richard and Ann DOWDING, 2)George GODSALL of Lower Town, Ashperton; representatives of William PITT of Sutton St Nicholas under the will of my late mother Ann SPENCER, deceased; Ann HOMES daur of William HOMES of Poolend - 100£; Hester wife of my said son Richard DOWDING and her children, each of my grandchildren (sons and daurs of Richard).

Witnesses: Richd SMITH, Whitborn; Tho: GODSALL of Ashperton; Thos GALLIERS, clerk to Mr. HOMES.
