Wallace was born in 1918. He is the son of William Dowdy and Ivie Wilson. He passed away in 2004.

NASHVILLE - Wallace T. "Jack" Dowdy, 85, died Feb. 7, 2004. A native of Marshall County, he moved to Washington at the age of 19 and worked with the U.S. Treasury Department, the Weather Bureau within the War Department and the British and South African governments before returning to Tennessee to raise his children on the family farm. He loved music and studied classical voice under Ricardi Zaponie at the New York Opera Company. He is survived by Grace Dowdy, his wife of 35 years; a daughter, Janis (Bill) Reilly of Nashville; two sons, Phil Dowdy of Nashville and Guy Dowdy of Columbia; a brother, Felix Dowdy of Joliet, Ill.; a granddaughter, Lauri (Brett) Gardner of Nashville; and three great-grandchildren. Visitation with the family will be from 4-7 p.m. today and one hour prior to the funeral, which will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be at Spring Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital or the charity of your choice.
