Recorded in Book 78, pge 160 in office of the Recorder of Deeds, Daviess Co., Mo. In the name of God, Amen. I, Peter Dowell of the county of Davies and State of Missouri, being of sound mind and memory and considering the uncertainity of this frail and transitory life do therefore make, ordain, publish and declare this to be my last will and testament that it to say, first after all my lawful debts are paid and dischared the residue of my estate, real and personal, I give and bequeath and dispose of as follows, to-wit: To my beloved wife, a horse beast if she choose it, 10 head hogs, and support out of this farm during her lifetime. To my son, Alexander, the use of my farm just the same as if it was his own during mine and my wife's lifetime. To my son, Alexander, the use of my farm just the same as if it was his own during mine and my wife's lifetime. He is to take care of us as long as we need it for the use of said farm and to keep the farm up in as good a repair as he well can. Also, the orchard and to have it until the first of the next April after the last one of us dies or until such time as he can secure and take care of anything he may have on said farm. The contract made between myself and my son, Henry M. Dowell, in relation to the completion of this house is to go on. Alexander Dowell is to retain a sufficient amount of money to furnish what material may be lacking to finish said house. All my personal property not otherwise disposed of shall be sold in the usual way. I give and bequeath my half of the wagon to my son, Alexander. I leave my land optionary with my executors to be sold either privately or publicaly whichever seems to them the best and the proceeds thereof to be equally divided between my heirs as well as the proceeds of my personal property, share and share alike. Likewise, I make, constitute and apppoint my said sons, Henry M. Dowell and Peter C. Dowell to be executors of this my last will and testament and in case either of them should not be capable to act that they shall appoint one. Hereby revoking all former wills by me made. In witness whereof I hereunto subscribe by my name and affixed my seal the twenty second day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty nine. // Peter Dowell. 3 [5]
