Being daughter of a pastor, Henrietta had a number of homes during her youth. In 1871, she appears on the first census with her family in Crosby, Ontario. In 1881, the family was listed in Brock, Ontario then in 1891 in Elmsley South.
In 1897, she married Rev. John Soper Stevenson.. The marriage record states her birthplace as Bells Corners, her age and place at time of marriage as 29 and Toronto, respectively. Her brother W. A. Dowler, of Tilsonburg, was a witness.

She lost her husband in 1935 and outlived him by more than 26 years. She passed away in Milton, Ontario in 1961, where she was interred near her husband
