I believe this John Downes was baptised Johannes (John) Downes on 11th July 1717 at Lapley, Staffs. His father was Johannes and mother was Mariae (Mary). He married Elizabeth Masfield on 21st Sep 1847 at St Edithas church, Church Eaton, Staffs (approx 2 miles from Lapley). His first child was called Mary and his third child John.
