George was born October 4, 1767, in Maryland, the only child of Timothy Downing and Unknown. His mother was NOT Mary Chenoweth. He was a farmer. He outlived two wives and had 17 children. He is buried in Downing Cemetery, Seal Township, Pike County, Ohio. [1]
